John Paul Mathews December 22, 1926 – March 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card John Paul Mathews, 92, of Tiffin, passed away at 7:03 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin. John was born on December 22, 1926 in Austinburg, Ohio, to the late Ruben and Dora (Clemmer) Mathews. John married Florence (Witt) in Twinsburg, OH on August 4, 1950 and she survives in Tiffin.

Survivors include his children, John (Deborah) Mathews Jr. of Bettsville, Thomas (Sandy) Mathews of Medina, Jeffrey (Vickie) Mathews of Luxembourgh, fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. John worked as a sheet metal worker. He was member of the local 33 union and was active with the Boy Scouts.

John was a graduate of Macedonia High School and a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII. John was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cathy White, five brothers, Donald, David, Robert, Frank and James Mathews. There will be a private family funeral service held for John at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin.

Burial will be held at Greenlawn cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
