Obituary for John Ragland (Buffalo) John William Ragland, son of the late Gordon and Hilma (Rose) Ragland was born on March 2, 1939 in Long Lane, MO, and departed this life on November 8, 2018 at Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon, MO. At the time of his passing he was 79 years, 8 months, and 5 days of age. John was reared in the Long Lane area and attended school at the Latimer school through the 8th grade and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1957.
After his schooling, he moved to Joliet, IL where he worked for Caterpillar for five years. He moved back to Long Lane after his father injured his hand to help on the family dairy farm. He was united in marriage to Doris McDaniel on September 22, 1962 in Desoto, MO.
He was a charter member of the Long Lane Lions Club, he was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church, and had attended Pisgah Baptist Church in Long Lane for several years. In his early years he loved to fish, go gigging, tractor pulls, and one leg water skiing. John was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Ragland; and an infant sister, Carolyn Sue Ragland.
He is survived by his wife Doris of the home; two sons, Randy Ragland of Stoutland, MO and Brian & wife Lynetta Ragland of Long Lane, MO; one sister, Kathleen Wright of Independence, MO; five grandchildren, Kristina & husband Sandy Hanson of South Dakota, Dustin & wife Taylor Ragland of Rogersville, MO, Macie Ragland of Stoutland, MO, Graden Ragland of Long Lane, MO, and Trevin Ragland of Long Lane, MO; and three great-grandchildren, Mya, Jada, and Cooper Hanson. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Chapel with Bro.

Interment will be in he New Hope Cemetery in Long Lane under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Long Lane Lions Club.
