Obituary for John Richard “Rick” Albert John Richard “Rick” Albert, age 70 of Hughesville, Maryland, died December 19, 2018 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Rick was born in Orange County, California and moved with his family to Hawaii and then New York when he was young. The family then moved to northern Virginia where Rick grew up and graduated from T. C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1966.

He attended William and Mary College and graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He later earned a master’s degree in Public Administration, also at George Mason. While living in Arlington and working on his master’s, Rick had two daughters, Katie and then Jessica Albert, with then wife Cynthia LaCovey.

He sang with the Arlington Metropolitan Chorus, serving on their Board of Directors and Arlington Unitarian church choir. In 1983 he began his 31-year civil service career as a budget analyst with US Navy and volunteered at Clark Senior Center. When NavAir moved their offices to Patuxent River Naval Base, Rick moved to Great Mills for several years where he again sang with church and community choirs.

In 2001, Rick married Kathy Keough of Waldorf, Maryland who had two adult children, Ryan and Julie. Rick has been an active member of the Maryland Choral Society for 17 years as well as Bethany Church Choir. He also has participated in Port Tobacco Players and College of Southern Maryland theater productions and was also a member of Bethany Christian Church and Maryland Choral Society.

For four years, he served with the Charles County Tax Aid volunteers. He has also participated in the 2N1 Senior Club at the Clark Senior Center and the Senior Show Troupe there. Rick is beloved and will be sorely missed by all of his extended family, the siblings, nieces and nephews of both Kathy and Rick, his church family, Southern Maryland friends, and especially by all of his children, grandchildren, and his wife, Kathy.

He was the son of John Petija Albert and Marjorie Ogden Albert. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his brother, Gregory Albert. Rick is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kathryn Keough; his step-son, Ryan Keough of Lancaster a Stage Manager at Dutch Apple Dinner Theater; his step-daughter, Julie Keough-Mishler, Singer with the U.S. Air Force Academy Band in Colorado Springs, and son-in-law, Jacob Keough-Mishler; his daughters, Katie Albert Clark of Oakton, Virginia, Marketing Director for Oath and husband, Chad Clark and Jessica Albert of Arlington, Virginia, Executive Assistant for an investment firm; his brothers, Lawrence Albert and wife Linda in Morehead, Kentucky and Edward Albert of New York City; his sister, Mary Jean Miller and husband Mark of Roanoke, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Ethan and Everett Clark.

He is also survived by 12 nephews and two nieces.
