OBITUARY John Robert Landon March 26, 1932 – August 26, 2018 Play Tribute Movie John Robert Landon Abingdon – John Robert Landon, 86 of Chatsworth, California, passed away Sunday morning, August 26, 2018 in Northridge, California. He was born March 26, 1932 in Galesburg, the son of John I. and Vera (Hill) Landon. He married Janet Hamlin and later married Marie Faraoni.

John is survived by his children Jeff Landon of Corona, California, Julie Hensley (Landon) of Limbach, Germany, Jill Stearns Landon of Sierra Madre, California, Joel Landon of Whittier, California and Jennifer Landon of Cisternino, Italy; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cliff Landon of Flower Mound, Texas, George Landon of Abingdon, Dorothy (and Clarence) Roberts of Galesburg, Sid (and Chris) Landon of Lake Forest, California and Dewey (and Janet) Landon of Yelm, Washington; and nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joseph Landon and his grandson, Michael Landon. He grew up in the Yates City area and moved with his family to Abingdon in 1949.

He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1950, where he earned All-State honors in football. He went to Bradley University in Peoria on a football scholarship and graduated from there in 1954. He served in the US Navy and Navy Reserves for 34 years, retiring with the rank of Captain.

He then worked in management in the Health Insurance Industry before retiring in 1993. Memorials may be made to the Defenders of Freedom Home.
