John S. Trecartin, 92 passed away Wednesday morning, March 27, 2019 at Chilton Hospital with his wife, Joan by his side. Born in Montclair, NJ, Mr. Trecartin was a longtime resident of Caldwell, NJ and later Hutchinson Island, (Stuart), FL before coming to Montville, NJ in 2014. He served in the United States Army at the end of World War II and was stationed in Italy.

He later earned his Bachelors Degree from Springfield College in 1951. Mr. Trecartin was the proprietor of the Elm-Tre Swim and Tennis Club, a family owned business located in Caldwell for 70 years until his retirement in 2000. He had also worked as an educator with the Chatham School System, where he was an admired Hockey Coach.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Joan D. Trecartin (nee Dalzell); four beloved children, Debbie DeVito (Vincent), J. Mark Trecartin, Scott E. Trecartin (Melody), and Valerie Haimson (Jeffrey); eleven grandchildren, PJ, Jaime, Brittany, Tiffany, Jake, Abby, Mandi, Scott, Brianna, Devan, and Dillon; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Mikenna; and his beloved pet, Molly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Marvel. Funeral arrangements are private.
