He was born June 28, 1949 in Detroit to Ralph and Annie Darby. John was a manager in the banking industry and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Surviving are his wife, Mary (Aulph) whom he married June 20, 1969; children, Dove Ann Darby and David Franklin Darby; sisters, Carol L. Delaney and Kathy L. Darby and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bethany L. Darby. Visitation Sunday 2-8 p.m. Service Monday 1 p.m. at the Kinsey-Garrett Funeral Home, 420 S. Lafayette, Royal Oak.

Burial, White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Memorials suggested to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
