Obituary of John Cameron September 13, 1965 – November 20, 2018 John D. Cameron. Age 53 of Key West, FL. John Cameron aged 53 died peacefully in Florida November 20, 2018.

He is preceded by his father, Charles Horace Cameron. John is survived by his loving mother Geraldine Shewbridge, wife Lara Cameron, siblings Catherine Cameron-Heldt, Mary Cameron-Crone (Bob Crone), Tom Cameron (Mary), and nephews and nieces who say he was their favorite uncle: Cameron Heldt, Aaron Heldt, Katie Crone, Emily Crone, Michael Crone, William Cameron, Christopher Cameron and Clare Cameron. John graduated from Gabriel Richard Riverview and Wayne State University.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit as he owned several successful businesses throughout his career. He was recognized by Detroit Crain’s Business as one of “30 Under 30 to Watch”. He made many business trips to China and could tell great stories.

He loved boating and owned many different boats throughout his life including sailboats, speedboats and even a tugboat which he kept at the Detroit Yacht Club where he was a member for many years. He even earned his Marine Pilot’s License. He was a kind and generous soul to many, especially neighbor boys Joey, Davey and Billy whom he helped raise and mentor through their lives.

A service is being planned later in December. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lower Keys Medical Center, Attn: Administration/In memory of John D. Cameron, 5900 College Road, Key West, FL 33040 or to the organization of your choice.
