Obituary for Johnnie David “J.D.” Griffin Jr. Macclesfield………………………………. Johnnie David “J.D.” Jr., age 89, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018. Mr. Griffin was born in Nash County on October 25, 1928 to the late Johnnie David Griffin Sr. and Mary Ann Weaver Griffin.

He was a member of Aspen Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Griffin was a hunter and a veteran having served during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Nina Atkinson Griffin of the home; brother, Marvin Griffin of Kannapolis; son, John Moore and wife, Cheryl of Lexington, NC; grandsons, Josh and Matt Moore both of Lexington, NC.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. by Rev. Frank Cockrell at the Webb Family Cemetery Highway 111 South, Macclesfield, NC. The family will receive friends at the Farmville Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7 until 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Aspen Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, 8861 Aspen Grove Church Road, Fountain, NC 27829.
