Johnnie Odell Harrod, 89, of Tifton passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ty Ty with Rev. Rodney Owens officiating.

Interment will follow in First Baptist Church of Ty Ty cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church before the service. Deacons of First Baptist Church of Ty Ty will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Harrod was born January 27, 1929 in Guin, Alabama to the late Rufus Harrod and Dolaris Hinson Harrod. He was married to Iva Nell Flippo Harrod for sixty-six years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Keith Harrod; his sisters, Louise McCamey, Lola Mae Gann, Clarice “Tootsie” Smith and his brother, Clarence Harrod.

Mr. Harrod was a member of First Baptist Church of Ty Ty and retired salesman with Patrick Tractor Company formerly Crowley Tractor. He was a veteran with United States Army stationed in Germany during Korean War. He was very active in his church serving as a deacon and doing many maintenance projects.

He was a former mayor of Ty Ty for many years. Mr. Harrod loved his Lord and his church family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Harrod is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Linda Harrod of Deland, Florida; two grandchildren, Chandler Oppenheim and Christie Harrod; two brothers, Bobby Joe Harrod of Marion County, Ala. , Tom and Pat Harrod of Paducah, Ky. , four sisters, Mary Bryant of Winfield, Ala.

, Margene and Jimmy Martin of Fayette, Ala. , Frances Johnson of Winfield, Hildred and Jerry Ellis of Selma; his special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hermon and Frankie Hannon of Ty Ty. In lieu of flowers, donation to First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Building Fund, PO Box 158, Ty Ty, Ga.
