Obituary of John Bubica John P. Bubica Age 95, passed peacefully with family and friends at his side Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet, IL. He was born October 15, 1923 to the late Mary (nee Brozovich) and Frank Bubica in Joliet, where he resided his entire life. A U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII.

He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a loyal friend. He will also be missed by Joey and Tuffy, his canine companions. In addition to his parents, he also lost his beloved wife, Marion (1987), his sister, Marie (the late Chuck) Berry, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law.

John retired from GAF/Ruberoid after 40 years of service. He was a hard working man who, after retirement, channeled his energy and enthusiasm to helping others and becoming even more active at his beloved church, St. Mary Nativity. He was a Sacristan there and a former member of the Joannites and St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Other memberships include VFW Cantigny Post #367, the Croation Cultural Club, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #300. John led a simple, yet gratifying life. His daughter, Jan, and son (in-law) Michael Parrish, feel extremely thankful for Dad’s longevity and felt honored to care for him.

They assisted him in his independence for many years as his health declined and changes were required. John lived with them for a period of time and eventually transitioned to Our Lady of Angels. They are especially grateful to everyone at OLA where many remember him for his kindness, his infectious smile and the sparkle in his eyes.

Residents, staff and Sisters alike enhanced Dad’s life this past year, and that fact will remain in our hearts forever. Special thanks to hospice nurse Deb Dwyer, OLA nurses Binh, Karen and Mary Beth, and nurse assistants Jen and Kelly. “Butch” the therapy dog also contributed to John’s well being.

Visitation for John Bubica will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet. The visitation will resume Friday morning, December 21, 2018 at Our Lady of Angels from 8:45 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.
