Obituary of John Miller Brownsburg – John William “Bill” Miller, 90, of Brownsburg, IN, formerly of Bedford, died at 2:25 am on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living. Born June 7, 1928 in Bedford, he was the son of Paul F. Miller, Sr. and Iva (Bloodsoe) Miller. He married Phyllis Jean Easton (the love of his life) on April 11, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2013.

He was a precision machinist and tool and die maker who began his career as a cost estimator for Curtis Automotive in Westfield, IN. He owned and operated J. Wm. Miller Enterprises (machine shop) in Bedford for many years.

He retired from Indiana University where he was a precision instrument maker/machinist for the Chemistry Department. He was a member of the Bedford First Christian Church where he had served as a deacon. Bill was a sweet man with a silly sense of humor.

He loved fishing, figuring out how things worked, classical music, building and playing dulcimers, and dogs. He was a proud lifetime member of the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Ann Miller, of Bloomington and Judy Hasselkus and husband, Kenny, of Indianapolis; two sons, William Alan Miller and wife, Maggie, of Lafayette and Martin Miller and wife, Gail, of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Matt Miller (Danielle), Eric Miller (Kathryn), and two granddaughters, Bridget Decker (Devin) and Adrienne Miller; four great grandsons and two great granddaughters; two brothers, Tom Miller (Lynn), of Mitchell and Paul Miller, of Bedford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis; a sister, Evelyn Miller Peterson; a sister-in-law, Joyce Miller and a brother-in-law, Larry Peterson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from12:00 noon until the hour of service on Tuesday, January 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family wishes to express gratitude to the team at Maple Park Village in Westfield, Indiana (especially Zach Krumwied, Tanesha Foster, and Nurse Heather) as well as the memory care staff at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living for their care.
