He was born on February 27, 1946 in Kingsville, TX to Jose and Santos Gonzales. He was a retired custodian from Texas A & I University and a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandy (Sam) Herd of Bremerton, Washington, Yvonne Lopez of San Antonio, and Angela (Edward) Neal of Kingsville; one son, Jose A. Gonzales III of Kingsville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, 06-18-2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery with Father Joseph Lopez officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
