Jose Luis Vega Lopez was born August 19, 1957 in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico the son of Apolinar Vega and Nicolasa Lopez Vega. He attended St. Edwards Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Felipe Vega.

Jose is survived by three children, Alejandro Vega and wife Nancy of Athens, Lucero Vega and husband Pablo of Athens, Juan Vega of Athens; one brother, Silvestre Vega and wife Micaela of Mexico; one sister, Teresa Vega of Mexico; two grandchildren Ximena and Xander Mejia and one niece Carmen Perez and husband Valentin. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
