Joseph’s Obituary Mr. Joseph C. Oxendine, 71, of Lumberton, passed away, surrounded those who loved him, on Thursday, May 16, 2019, comfortably at his home. He was born on April 24, 1948, in Robeson County to the late James C. and Doshie Locklear Oxendine. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Antelope Oxendine; two sisters, Annie Hazel Deese and Edith Faye Oxendine; seven brothers: Ruvelt “Muddy” Oxendine, Errol Flynn Oxendine, Bernard Dewitt Oxendine, James “Pete” Oxendine, James Rudolph Oxendine, Stanton Hunt, and Benton Hunt; and two grandchildren, Hailey Nicole Oxendine and Xavier McDaniel Oxendine-Clark.

Mr. Oxendine is survived by one brother, Levern Oxendine; a daughter, Cynthia “Cyndee” Oxendine; two sons, Joel Craig Oxendine (Pam) and Leland Coby Oxendine, Sr. (Melissa); six grandchildren: Josey Oxendine Mitchell (Jaron), Cornesia Oxendine Smith (Craig), Leland Coby Oxendine, Jr., Alyssa Shay Oxendine, Rebecca LaVatta Jones (Lionel), and Justice Mercedes Depinerez; six great-grandchildren: Lacie Nicole Smith, Nala Rayne Oxendine, Jaydon LaVatta, Jalari Jones, Jaheil Jones, and Zayuri Mena Simone. Mr. Oxendine also leaves behind numerous friends and family members, and four generations of nieces and nephews, who will greatly miss their “Uncle Dunk”. He was well-known in drag racing community and if you knew Joe, then you had a friend for life.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5thStreet in Lumberton. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 3:00 PM at First Assembly Church, 3201 W. 5thStreet in Lumberton, with Rev. Jimmy Oxendine and Rev.

Larry Oxendine officiating. Burial will follow at The Oxendine Family Cemetery in Rowland.
