Joseph Cooper Copeland, Jr, 94, of Avon Park, died on Friday morning, June 1, 2018 at the home of his daughter. He born December 19, 1923 in Wheeler, Mississippi to Joseph Cooper and Carrie (Bryant) Copeland and had lived in Avon Park since 1957 coming from Booneville, Mississippi. J.C. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Avon Park.

He served In the US Army during WWII and later was a car salesman with I.H. Ford’s Chevrolet dealership in Avon Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie E. Copeland, a brother, Alvin Copeland, a sister Catherine King and is survived by his children, Christopher H. (Marilyn) Copeland, Jane (Curtis) Nelson and George C. Copeland; 2 sisters, Vitha Carr and Sandra Crabb; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, June 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at Fountain Funeral Home, Jon Beck will be officiating with interment in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
