Joseph D. Messmer Sr. passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was 87. Mr. Messmer of Norristown was a member of St. Francis of Assisi church Norristown.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean war. Joseph was a member of the Swampcreek Rod and gun club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was born in Conshohocken on January 5, 1931 to the son of Francis and Elsie (Witten)Messmer.

Beloved husband of the late Constance (Pastino)Messmer. He is survived by his four sons Joseph Jr., Robert (Marybeth) Christopher (Karen) Scott (Denise) and his daughter Carol Collins (late husband James Collins). One brother Frank Messmer.

Grandchildren James, Jason, Jill, Bobbi, Joseph, Jeremy, Jordan and two great grandchildren Chase and Joseph. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Tuesday June 12 at 11 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Norristown. Burial St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Volpe funeral home.
