Joseph D. Zecchin, 69, of Union Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at home. Born on September 22, 1949 in Winsted, CT, he was the son of the late Guido J. and Gertrude E. (Bouchez) Zecchin. Joseph was a teacher at Northern RI Collaborative for twenty years until retiring in 2014.

Prior to teaching, he worked for General Dynamics Electric Boat, Quonset Point, North Kingstown, RI as a welder, inspector and supervisor. He graduated from the University of RI with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. Joseph was in the NA Program and had been sober since 1985.

He sponsored and helped many people throughout his recovery. Joseph was a avid fisherman. Joseph is survived by three children; Sonya Zecchin, Vanessa Mann and Emma Zecchin, a brother; Robert Zecchin and eleven grandchildren.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Burial will be private. For online condolences please visit www.
