Joseph’s Obituary Joseph Edward Ortner, 72, of 159 Hickory Fork Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019, in Sentara Virginia Beach Hospice House. Mr. Ortner was born in Lakewood, New Jersey on August 16, 1946, and was the son of the late Hans Joseph and Dorothy Dix Ortner. The retired owner of Hatteras Welding in Hatteras, NC where he and his wife lived prior to moving to Edenton, he was a US Navy veteran, and was a member of the Point Pleasant (New Jersey) Elk Lodge #1698.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Jeanette Lynn Ortner and Joseph Edward Ortner, Jr. Surviving is his wife of nearly 47 years, Joan Van Druten Ortner; and many friends from his living in New Jersey, Hatteras, and lastly in Edenton. In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family and online condolences may be made by visiting www.
