Joseph Rufus “Joe” Powers, 76, of Bennett, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in Pinehurst. Funeral Services, 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Fall Creek Baptist Church, Bennett. Officiating, Rev.

Edwin Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Joe was a native of Durham County, retired manager of the student store at Duke University and a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Payton Rigsbee Powers, sisters, Ruth Phipps, Jacqueline Crawford. Survivors: wife, Ann Bennett Powers, of the home, daughter, Deirdre Powers “DeeDee” Dean of Bennett , son, Joseph Lundy Powers, of Juneau, Alaska, sisters, Kay Simpson, of Carthage, Joyce Powers-Bissette, of Bennett, grandchildren, Catherine Powers, Cassie-Anna Dean, Caroline Powers, Trinity Dean, Lydia Powers, Brianna Powers, Phillip Dean. Visitation, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, Fall Creek Baptist Church, Bennett and other times at the residence.
