Joseph Richard Clay, 70, of Odessa TX passed away Monday May 13th 2019. Joseph Richard Clay was born on January 2nd, 1949 to Alma Jean Clay and Joseph Frank Clay. He grew up in Odessa Texas where he attended Odessa Permian High School and graduated in 1967.

Following High School, Rick enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served as a medic in Vietnam. He then attended University of North Texas in Denton where he received his Bachelor’s in Behavioral Psycology and minored in Art. The university loved his work so much that they have one of his drawings archived in the school library.

He was a man of many talents also including music. He was even invited to play his guitar and sing at a music festivle in Luckenbach TX amongst other venues. Once retired, Rick continued work for his country and community including being a member of the 3 presenters and Oath Keepers helping with disaster relief for FEMA.

He continued to do so until his passing and would always help anyone ever in need. Rick profoundly exemplified the uncommon greatness of the common man. In 1976 Rick married Patricia Gayle Brown and had two children.

The oldest Justin Dale Clay and daughter Katrina Gayle Clay. A strong since of responsibility and drive for excellence was instilled in all his descendants. He always placed the needs of other family members above those of his own.

Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Alma Jean Clay, father Joseph Frank Clay, and brother Ronald Clay. He will be lost to but not forgotten by survivors Justin Dale Clay, son, Katrina Gayle Burton, daughter, Bradley Gray Burton, son-in-law, Tyler Dale Clay, grandson, Jayden Crystal Clay, granddaughter, Colton Gage McCarty, grandson, Cadynce Avery Burton, granddaughter, and Austin Gray Burton, grandson. Visitation will be held 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Christian Missions Church in Jacksboro, Texas and the Memorial will start at 1:00.
