Joseph Stephen Whitmon, 70, of Florence, passed away on May 01, 2019 at North Alabama Medical Center. He was a life-long active member of Highland Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for several years. Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Monday May 6, 2019 from 12 Noon -1 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Chris Underwood officiating.

Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. C. Whitmon and Sara Nell Morrison Whitmon. Survivors include his brother, Danny Whitmon (Teresa) of Moulton, AL; sisters, Joy Whitmon Parkman (Bruce) of Pinson, AL and Gay Whitmon Tillman of Gardendale, AL and a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. All the members of the Steve Whitmon and Paul Brown Sunday School Class of Highland Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
