Monson- Joseph V. Serrato, 70, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 surrounded by the love of family. Joe was born in Palmer, October 23, 1948 to the late Albert J. and Elizabeth (Giaquinto) Serrato. He has been a long time resident of Monson.

He owned and operated Palmer Core Company formerly of Palmer and Monson. For many years he worked with his father at Palmer Core as well as the Palace Restaurant in Stafford Springs, CT. Joe was a former partner and manager of Tee Jay’s Bar in Monson and he was the current sealer of weights and measures for the towns of Palmer and Monson.

He served in the National Guard and in his younger years played softball for the Monson Inn and the Glass Krutch. Joe was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Monson, an avid Red Sox fan and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. Joseph leaves his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen S. (Costa) Serrato; a daughter, Lynette Serrato and her partner Sean Bourdeau of Palmer; a sister Terri Moss and her husband Tom of Hyannis; and the love of his life, his grandson; Brandan Serrato of Palmer as well a several cousins.

Joe was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Serrato Andrejack in 1998. Visiting hours will be held, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 5-8pm in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 8, 2019 at 10am in the funeral home with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery also in Monson.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Monson Fire Department Ambulance Fund PO Box 335 Monson, MA 01057.
