Joseph’s Obituary Joseph Zawoysky, Jr., Laurel Gardens, Ross Township. Born 24 December 1949 in Sewickley Hospital. Father Joseph Zawoysky (Deceased, 8 August 1973) mother Ruth Zawoysky (Deceased, 21 August 2017).

Father of Thomas (Daisy) Zawoysky, Eric (Tammara) Zawoysky, and Julia (Darrin) Clegg. Grandfather of Thomas Joseph (TJ) Zawoysky and Vincenzo Zawoysky. Brother of Ronald (Sue), Michael (Vicki), and Sister Kathy (Bob) Bruce.

Nieces Kim (Tim) Stahl, Korrey (Ron) Siatkosky, Kelley Bruce, Karen (Brian) Attwood, and Calla Zawoysky (Tony Wambach). Great Uncle of Mae Attwood, Brody Bruce-Fritz, Dylan Bruce-Fritz, Erich Attwood, and Freddie Wambach. Graduated from North Hills School in 1967.

Served with the National Guard in B, BTRY 107th FA at Hunt Armory for 5 years and 99th ARCOM/RSC for 16 years at Oakdale/ Coraopolis, PA before retiring in 1995 as E7 SFC. While in high school he worked with his dad and brother after school cutting grass and shoveling snow. He also worked at Abbotts beer distributor his senior year in high school.

Was employed for 5 years at Nick Romeo Transmission’s as a Mechanic, including getting a PA State Inspection License. Worked for Rust Engineering as a Laborer for 2 months in Clarion and St. Mary’s PA before going to Sears and Roebucks in Allegheny Center for a year as stock boy in the carpet department. then on June 4, 1973 he started work as a civilian for the 99th (USAR) US Army Reserve’s and with (CEK) Charles E. Kelly Support before retiring on September 30, 2009.

Started as a mechanic then held the following positions: Supply, Admin Clerk, Tool/Parts attendant, Small Arm’s Artillery, and Optical Instrument Repair. Duty Station Leader, ECS Maintenance Foreman and Supervisory Equipment Specialist before becoming the Supervisor Logistics Management Specialist (SLMS) at the 99th Headquarters in June 1994 until retiring on September 30, 2009. While at the SLMS seen the 99th go from 2 states to 5 in 1995 and then 13 states in 2005.

During his employment as a civilian for the USAR he worked at the following locations in Pennsylvania; Corliss Street, Leetsdale, Neville Island, Oakdale, New Kensington, Franklin, and Coraopolis from which he retired. He also worked at various states surrounding Pennsylvania and attended numerous meeting and conferences for the USAR all over the United States as the 99th representative on Logistics, as required briefing the higher headquarters and answering congressional inquires. Enjoying going to Camp Best of All in Zelienople, going/ hunting at the Fisher Hilton in Clarion County and purchased camp site B733 in 1995 at Plantation Park Mercer County.

Hobbies were riding Motorcycles and cars. Family will welcome friends on Thursday, February 14 from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, February 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc (West View), 388 Center Ave. , Pittsburgh, PA 15229.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa of Avila Church.
