Obituary for Josephine Marie Smith Josephine Marie Smith, age 102, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at her home. Visitation will be Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery Friday, September 14, 2018 at 9:00 am.

A memorial mass will be held at St Anne Catholic Church, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:30 pm. Those wishing, may make memorial contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. She was born to Joseph Ulysses Ouellette and Emma Blanche (Cote) on August 29, 1916 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

After finishing high school, Josephine completed a bachelor degree nursing program administered by the nuns in Ontario. In 1938 she moved to Detroit, Michigan and became a United States citizen in 1939. She worked as a Registered Nurse and specialized in cardiac care at the Orange County Hospital, and retired at age 72.

Josephine was a member of the St Anne Catholic Church. She enjoyed working the newspaper crossword puzzle in every edition of the Courier; trips to the ocean, camping; and being with family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Pam Baron of Portland, Oregon, MaryJo Smith of Millington, Michigan; two adopted daughters, Tammy Stout and Cindy Thompson of Grants Pass; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Smith in 2008; and two sons, Patrick and infant son Michael.
