Joy Lee Lapoczka, 72, of Rayland, OH, passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 12, 2019 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville. She was born February 24, 1947 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late John and Ruth (VanKirk) Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lapoczka, who passed away January 6, 2006.

Joy worked in the payroll dept. at the AEP Cardinal Plant in Brilliant until she had her two daughters then she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Meadowbrook Church of God, where she was in the Women Church of God group.

She also used to work at the 4-H kitchen at the Jefferson County Fair. Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth (John) Peckham of Whitmore Lake, MI and Michelle (Eric) Taylor of Rayland, OH; two brothers, Daniel Roberts of Fayetteville, NC and Roger (Lori) Roberts of Wintersville, OH; a sister, Joann (Dave) Gibson of Mingo Junction, OH; and four grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Peckham and Joseph and Madison Taylor. Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
