Obituary for Joyce E. Eller Joyce Elaine (Long) Eller was born August 10, 1933 to James Augustus “Gus” Long and Essie Irene (Humphrey) Long. She passed from her earthly life on Saturday, December 8, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 85 years old.
Joyce married the love of her life, Orville Junior Eller, on September 19, 1951. Her family recalls the story she told them that she saw him at the age of 12 as she was friends with his sisters, and thinking he was quite handsome, decided she was going to marry him, and she did! Together they worked hard to build a successful dairy farm and raise five children.
She worked for a brief time for the telephone company as an operator before having children. Joyce was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She thought the “babies” should have unrestricted access to candy, ice cream, and pop when visiting her house.
“Nanny” thought she has the smartest and best looking grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the world. Their pictures were in every nook and cranny in her home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and cleaning.
She never made just one pie. She would make Junior’s and each child’s favorite everytime she baked making a cinnamon roll with any leftover dough. Joyce and Junior opened their home to anyone needing a place to stay.
Joyce was saved while attending Keefeton Assembly of God Church in Keefeton, Oklahoma. She has missed dad every day for the past eleven years. Her greatest desire was to be able to live out her days in their home until her final home going.
She was able to do this with the help of some fine ladies, Johnna Downing, Geraldine Cannon, and Cheryl ton. Thank you for the care and companionship you provided. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville “Junior” Eller; grandson, Waco Lee Eller; daughter-in-law, Ellen Barbara Jean Lawhorn Eller; brothers, James “Bucky” Long, Wayne Long, and Sherman Long; sisters, Katherine Long, Nancy Irene Fanton, and Sally Robertson; and Junior’s family.
