Joyce E. Schmidt, 78, of Lake Geneva died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday March 9th, 2019. Born Joyce Elizabeth Leonard to the late William and Mary (Bray) Leonard on June 6th, 1941 in Belvidere, Illinois. Joyce was a member of the first graduating class from Badger High School in Lake Geneva in 1959.

On March 11th, 1961 Joyce was united into marriage to Leland Schmidt at St. Johns Church in Slades Corner’s, Wisconsin. Joyce was a woman who had a big heart. Joyce was a member of the Spirit of the Lakes Choir and the Sweet Adeline’s choir for over 30 years.

Joyce was a member of the Alter Guild at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Joyce loved a good fish fry, a cold Margarita, loved to play 500. Joyce loved to spend time laughing with friends and family and she always had room at the table for one more.

Out of everything that Joyce did nothing filled her heart more then the memories made and the time spent with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leland. 2 children survive Joyce: Daniel (Angie) Schmidt of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Diana (Eric Struve) Schmidt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

5 grandchildren: Hollynd Schmidt, Josh (Caitlin) Schmidt, Brady Schmidt, Milo Sieger, and Ginny Struve all survive Joyce. 1 brother: Bill (Geri) Leonard Jr. of Lake Geneva also survives Joyce. Joyce was preceded in death by her sister Mary Lou Esmond and her brother Ron Leonard.

Services for Joyce will be held on Saturday March 16th, 2019 at 12:00pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00am till the time of service at the church. The Schmidt family would like to send a huge heartfelt thank you to their Immanuel Lutheran Family and to the Lake Geneva Fire Department.
