Joyce Phillips Guiles age 82 a resident of Cleveland went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday May 2, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late A.M. Phillips and Lois Whitley Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Angel Mercado.

Joyce was a long time member of the North Cleveland Church of God where she served on the Music Board. She was the Alto section leader with the Crusader Choir. Joyce at one time was the organist for the North Cleveland Junior Choir and for the church.

She was an Executive Secretary with over 25 years of service at the Church of God headquarters in Cleveland. She was a minister’s wife for 65 years serving with her husband Rev. Cecil Guiles in Florida, Illinois, California, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee.

She loved music, and was a true friend to all that knew her but her deepest love was her family and her church. She is survived by her husband Rev. Cecil Guiles, her son Bryan Guiles and his wife Sharon, her daughters Renea Taylor and her husband Rev.

Terry Taylor, Rhonda Davis and her husband Rev. Hank Davis, her grandchildren Lee Taylor and his wife Rachel, Josh Taylor and his wife Aly, Courtney Brown and her husband Michael, Josiah Guiles and Christine Davis, 6 great grandchildren, her sister Gayle Long along with several nieces and nephews. A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Tuesday at 7 o’clock at the Dixon Center, North Cleveland Church of God with Rev.

Jim Milligan officiating. The committal service will be held Wednesday at 11am at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Boe Peeples, John Wynkoop, Boyd Williams, Dale Hughes, Dan Winters, Henry Smith, Ben McGlamery, Paul Duncan and Rudy Felton serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7pm at the Dixon Chapel.
