Obituary for Judge Theodore Scott (Buffalo) Theodore B. Scott departed this life on June 24th, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Ted was born on June 20th, 1941 to Judge Theodore G. and Lucile Scott. Both preceded him in death along with his uncles, Dwight, Bert, and Homer Darby.
He accepted Christ at the age of 15 and attended the First Christian Church all his life. He served as a Deacon and Elder at the church. Ted was raised in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School Class of 1959.
He received a B.S. in Psychology at Drury College. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity at Drury College. He received his J.D., at Samford University.
In law school, he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi fraternity. He was admitted to practice before the Missouri Supreme Court, United States District Court and the United States Supreme Court. He was appointed Dallas County Judge by Governor Warren Hearnes in 1969.
He served as Probate, Magistrate, Associate Circuit Judge (1969-1988). He was a Presiding and Circuit Judge for the 30th Judicial Circuit (1988-2000), which included counties Benton, Dallas, Hickory, Polk and Webster. Senior Judge for 26th and 30th Judicial Circuit (2001-2010).
He was a member of the Missouri and American Bar Association. He attended the American Academy of Judicial Education, and the National Judicial College. Past president of 30th Judicial Bar Association and Missouri Association Probate and Associate Circuit Judges.
Past chairman of Burrell Mental Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. Member of the Supreme Court Judicial Record Committee, Supreme Court Committee Preservation of Record. He was also a special Judge for the Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District.
Judge Scott married Judy Warren from Birmingham, Alabama on April 5th, 1968. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The union of Ted and Judy produced three children, Theodore J. Scott, wife Holly Scott, children Sophie, Jonah and Emma.
Meredith Lynn Scott and Shelby (her fur baby), and Matthew Brian Scott, wife Brandy children McKenzie and Kylee. Ted had a deep love and devotion for his family, wife, children and grandchildren. His quiet devotion to the Lord was always present throughout his life.
