Obituary of Julio DiMaggio FRANKFORT – Mr. Julio J. DiMaggio, age 95, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 20, 2019 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Born on December 23, 1923, Julio was the son of the late Calogero and Clara (Tocco) DiMaggio. He grew up and received his education from Frankfort schools.
Julio was a proud veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II. On September 15, 1956, Julio was wed to the former Joan Gleba at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. Together they spent nearly sixty-three years in a loving and devoted union.
The majority of Julio’s career was spent as a purchasing agent with the Kelsey-Hayes Company. At one time, he also served on the Frankfort Town Board as both Councilman and Supervisor. He and his wife, Joan, are longtime parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort.
Julio was also a member and former president of the S.S. Maria Addolorata Society; as well as a member of the Frankfort VFW and Frankfort American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his daughters and son-in-law, Marlonna and Gerard Hubinsky of South Glens Falls, NY and Katherine Custer of Halfmoon, NY; his son and daughter-in-law, Peter “Chip” and Graceann DiMaggio of Summerville, SC; his grandchildren, Cory Custer, Samantha Hubinsky, Stephen Hubinsky, Julio DiMaggio, Christopher Bullivant and Carrie Doxtader and her husband, Josh. He also leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Violet DiMaggio of Frankfort; his sister, Lena Lynch of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Florence Campbell; and his in-laws, Peter and Agnes Gleba, Mary and Matthew Patla, Monsignor Peter Gleba, Rev. William Gleba and Baby Edward Gleba. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Julio’s visitation on Wednesday morning, January 23, 2019 from 9:30AM – 10:30AM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000.
Julio’s funeral service will commence at 10:30AM at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation, and at 11:00AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. Spring interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.
