Robbinsville, NC (Formerly of Alabama) Vera June Lemmond Johnson Driver, 86, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2019, at her daughter Patricia’s home in Robbinsville, North Carolina, where she had been living for the past year. June was the daughter of William and Lois Lemmond and grew up in Somerville, AL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Julian Driver, son, Kenneth Johnson, step daughter Jeri Driver, and brothers Theo, Buey, and Jack Lemmond.

June is survived by her daughters Dr. Patricia J. Johnson and Sarah Johnson Sims, both of Robbinsville; step daughter, Jill Driver Lindsey, grandsons and spouses Jeremy and Amy Sims, Daniel and April Johnson, and granddaughters Amber Johnson and Karli and David Mendez. June’s remaining siblings are Ann Bowling, Myrie (Bud) Lemmond, and Clara Swader. Also surviving is Bruce Johnson, the father of June’s children.

Bruce and June owned and operated Johnson’s Studio on Main Street in Hartselle in the 1960’s and 70’s. June and Julian lived in Nashville, TN and moved to Decatur, AL in the 1990’s, where June continued to live until recently. Until her health declined, June was an active member of GraceRiver Community Church.

In her younger years, she loved to play softball, and then took up bowling, where she and Julian enjoyed many years playing in bowling leagues. June was a self taught artist and produced many beautiful oil paintings. She will be missed by her “Telephone Buddy”, and special friend over the past several years, Walt Osterman, as well as her loving and loved caretakers.

She will always have a special place in the heart of the Gleanings community. Many Graham County friends, including the clinic staff, helped make her final days as comfortable and loving as possible. Visitation will be on Monday, January 21 at Center Springs United Methodist Church from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with services at 1:00 pm, followed by burial at CSUMC.
