Obituary of June Neitzel June Marie Neitzel, age 82, a lifelong resident of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2018 at Edenbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility. June was born to Harold and Bonita [Salter] Henke on June 16, 1936. She married Robert A. Neitzel on May 11,1957 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids.

They enjoyed 53 years together. He preceded her in death in October 2010. Bob and June were avid race fans, and especially enjoyed the Indianapolis 500.

They attended the time trials and races for many years, as well as working in the pits with the Paul Menard Indy Race Team. They made many lifelong Indy friends throughout the country, with whom June continued to stay in touch. June was also an enthusiastic Packer fan.

Her many interests included flower gardening, shopping for antiques, and decorating the home where she and Bob resided throughout their married lives and June continued to live until her passing. She was a talented musician and loved to sing and play the piano. The upright piano was a fixture in her living room for many years.

Her career included working as a secretary at Consoweld and Lester Smart Insurance Agency in Wisconsin Rapids. June had an unwavering faith and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for many years. She often expressed her gratitude for home visits by the Pastor and several members of the church.

She appreciated their support as well as the phone calls and visits of family and friends over the years. June is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends; locally and throughout the country. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Forest Hill Cemetery. Pastor Timothy Wenger will officiate.

Memorials may be given to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
