Obituary for K Louise Smith It is with great sadness that the family of K-Louise Butler Smith announces her passing after a lingering illness, on Friday, September 21, 2018, at the age of 65 years. She was born August 18, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Helen Bushman Butler and Kenneth K Butler. K-Louise had one older brother, Chad Smith.

Her youth was spent on 2300 South with her parents and brother. Attending Holladay Elementary School, Olympus Junior High, Olympus High School, and graduating with the class of 1971. She later attended Salt Lake Community College and Westminster College where she earned an M.B.A. The greatest loves of K’s life were horses, stray animals, and stray people.

She always seemed to have a group of ardent followers, ready to do her biding. She was a member of U.A.H.C. (Utah Arabian Horse Club) and the A.M.H.R.

(American Miniature Horse Registry); thoroughly enjoyed these activities and excelled, winning many awards. K-Louise married William Earick Smith IV (Rick), they later divorced. They had two sons, William Earick Smith V and Noah (stillborn).

She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 80’s and received her endowments at the Jordan River Temple. She has resided at her home in Sandy, Utah for over 35 Years. Being afflicted with fibromyalgia, arthritis, and numerous back problems for several years, she was very limited in her ability to do the things she loved.

Her beloved son, Earick became her caretaker, being a great blessing to all. K-Louise was one of those characters, you meet, who are bigger than life, funny, playful. As her Mother used to say, “full of piss and vinegar”.

She loved much and did what she could. She will be missed by many as she has returned to a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We know her family and loved ones were there to meet her as she rode her finest horse through the veil.

K-Louise Butler Smith has been proceeded in death by her parents; Kenneth Butler and Helen Butler; her brother, Chad; and baby son, Noah. Funeral Services in memory of K-Louise will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11a.m. at the Crescent 24th Ward Chapel, 250 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah.
