Kara Lynn Gesaman , January 03, 1991 — August 30, 2018

Kara Lynn Gesaman, age 27, died unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon at Unity Point – Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A Gathering of Family and Friends honoring Kara’s Life will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 8th at O’Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk. Contributions to a memorial fund that has been established at City State Bank in Norwalk to benefit Kara’s daughter, Ava Monroe Gesaman, will be greatly appreciated and may be left at the bank or O’Leary Funeral Services the day of the visitation gathering.

She was the first born daughter to Greg and Brenda Gesaman. When Brenda was told it was a girl, she didn’t believe it. They were sure they were having a boy.

She was small from day one and stayed that way. Then came the blond hair to go with her blue eyes. She was always a beautiful girl and later woman.

When she turned 12, she became a handful and stayed that way. She was many times hard on her family and didn’t always make good decisions – but she was always there for her friends and others in need. She was always impatient with life.

She got her CNA certification at 16 – before she could even use it, and graduated from High School a year early. She had a brief marriage when she was young and spent a happy 9 months in Hawaii. When she came back, she worked to receive her paralegal degree from Kaplan University and worked as a paralegal.

It was at that point in her life, she began a battle with drugs that led to years of struggle and ultimately contributed to her death from multiple organ failure. In the middle of this time, she received her greatest blessing and joy – her beautiful daughter Ava Monroe. Although Ava wouldn’t see her Mommy for long periods, she always loved and asked about her.

Ava will continue to feel her love and blessings through-out her life. Kara loved Marilyn Monroe, Mermaids, tattoos, wolves, crystals, spirits, her dog Diesel, her sister Kaylen, and her daughter Ava. She will be loved and remembered by her family and all those whose life she touched.
