Obituary for Kathleen Joy Church Our beautiful mother, Kathleen Joy Church, age 65, passed into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ on the morning of Sunday, November 18, 2018, after complications from a stroke. She was surrounded and cared for by all three of her children including her siblings, during the last few days of her life. She was born to Claude and Virginia Church, in Wichita, Kansas on December 26, 1952.

She married Ken Bodkin in 1970 and moved to Newberg, Oregon, where she cared for her three children. Over the years she worked for mental health and most of her life excelled at being a property manager. For the last 11 years of her life, she helped to take care of her youngest granddaughter.

One of her greatest gifts was taking the time to visit with elderly residents that were lonely and needed someone to talk to. She loved people and always had time to listen to a friend. Her greatest love was her grandchildren, whom she never stopped talking about.

Our mother will always be remembered for her generosity, her loving heart and her mischievous sense of humor. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Shelly R. Sutter of Springfield, Oregon; her sons, Brandon W. Bodkin of Springfield, Oregon and Kenneth M. Bodkin of Battleground, Washington, brother’s, Steve Church of Wichita, Kansas; Mike Church of Wichita, Kansas; Claude Church of Derby, Kansas and sister’s, Debi Siddique of Donald, Oregon; and Sharon Gardipee of Auburn, Washington; and 7 grandchildren, Wesley, Cody, Brayden, Kayla, Ashley, Nathaniel, Payton, Jenna and 3 great grandchildren, Charlee, Ryan and Emma. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Attrell’s Funeral Chapel in Newberg, Oregon.

A public viewing will be offered prior to the funeral from 10:30 to 10:50 am. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Park & Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, we kindly consider donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital at www.
