Kathleen Louise Watson, 65, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 after a 9-month battle with brain cancer. Kathleen was born July 26, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Charles “Mickey” and Florence McPherson. Kathleen will be deeply missed by her children, Bob Welsch (Annie) of Oakdale, PA and Juleen Welsch Ayres (Michael) of Jacksonville; her husband of 25 years, John Watson, of Jacksonville Beach and her beloved grandchildren, Kinsley Victoria Welsch, Zoe Olivia Ayres and Ray Watson Mathews.

Also survived by her mother, Florence McPherson; sisters, Deborah McGovern (Bill) and Laureen Santoro (Vince); and brother, Michael McPherson all of Pittsburgh, PA. Kathleen is also survived by stepchildren, Tom Watson (Leigh Ann) of Cumming, GA, and Brooke Watson of Starke, FL along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, Charles McPherson and brother, Charles R. McPherson.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Kathleen turned her love of fashion into a career as a clothing buyer leading her to May Cohens in Jacksonville more than 30 years ago. Her passion for fashion and design never waned and she often styled homes, wardrobes and events for her friends and family. Kathleen was an avid traveler, dog lover and an extraordinary hostess.

Affectionately nicknamed “The Mayor”, Kathleen’s vibrant personality and good humor left an impression on all those fortunate enough to cross paths with her. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park.

Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, or donations can be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or Community Hospice Anne & Donald McGraw Center for Caring (4715 Worrall Way, Jacksonville, FL).
