Kathryn Ann Watson Obituary Photo

Obituary for Kathryn Ann Watson Kathy Watson was born in the 50’s or 60’s to Martha and Mitchell Rowe in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was always a bit imprecise about the year she was born. She married the great love of her life, Big Dave Watson on April 30, 1976 in Benton County Arkansas.

She departed this life on June 22, 2018, in Claremore, Oklahoma. Kathy was an Oklahoma girl who graduated with the senior class of 1971 from Pryor High School. She acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

She retired from the City of Tulsa as a Network Administrator to pursue her passions of golf, gardening and grandchildren (not necessarily in that order). Her proudest accomplishments were her children—Gene Watson and wife Melissa of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Tina Fleenor and husband Chris of Frankton, Indiana; her grandchildren—Samantha, Nick, Micah, Tanner, Madison, Amber, David and Joey; and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved many people including her Aunt Do, her sisters Debie and Sissy, her brother Paul, her god-daughter, Mandie and a widely extended family including many very dear cousins and friends.

Kathy’s lifelong home town was Gore, Oklahoma where she was one of very few girls in her class. This resulted in her being a shoe-in for Basketball Queen. She was a skilled basketball player, despite her 5-foot 2-inch stature, and she was always so very pretty.

She grew to love the community of Chelsea, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed a career as a florist, teaching all her family members how to tie florist’s bows and to be front and center for every Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. She had a lifelong passion for plants, flowers and pretty things and was committed to beautifying the world around her. After settling into her nest at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, she became an avid golfer and developed a level of skill.

Being married to the self-appointed mayor of Indian Springs Country Club (Big Dave) she became, by default, the First Lady. She greatly enjoyed this season of her life and the lifelong friends she adored. After Big Dave’s passing she eventually moved to Claremore where she enjoyed the company of her crafty sister Debie and her nephews Brennan and Grayson.

Kathy was delightful in mind and spirit and absolutely enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. She loved to tell a good story, particularly those peppered with belly laughs. She enjoyed clever wit, golden moments and sarcasm.

Kathy was uniquely Kathy and the world is a dimmer place without her. Kathy was preceded in death by: her infant daughter, Tiffany, her brother, John Rowe, her parents, Martha and Mitchell Rowe, her niece, Amber Marlowe, and Kathy’s husband, Dave. Kathy’s family asks that as a remembrance of her you spend more time with your children, take a walk with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships – livelong and beyond.

That is what Kathy would want for you. In lieu of flowers you may contribute to the March of Dimes in honor of her infant daughter, Tiffany, who became an angel much too young, or contributions can be made to the Junior Golf Association. A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Claremore OK at 1 p.m. This will be preceded by a lunch for family and friends beginning at 11:30 in the fellowship hall of the church.
