Obituary for Kathryn “Kathy” Mills Kathryn “Kathy” Mills, 95, of the Meth-Wick Community died Thursday, April 26, 2018. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per Kathy’s request, her body was donated to the University Of Iowa Department Of Anatomy.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Dr. William G. Jamison, a daughter, Nancy (Steve) Alt of Ames, Iowa; a son, David (Connie) of Cedar Rapids; a son, Greg of Maiti, Nelson, New Zealand; grandchildren, Stephanie Koclanis (Bill), Jeffrey (Robin) Alt and Burgess Mills; great-granddaughters, Alison, Finley and Emerson; step-children, John (Donna) Jamison, Bill (Alaine) Jamison, Jim (Betty) Jamison and Sally Brown; seven step-granddaughters; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Richard Mills of 51 years.

She was the only child of Perry and Mildred Zoe (Alder) Roberts. Kathryn was born May 8, 1922, in St. Joseph, Missouri and married Richard I. Mills at First Congregational Church on August 22, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. He died in October of 1999.

She then married the Rev. Dr. William G. Jamison on October 9, 2004. Kathryn graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids in 1940.

She retired from the Cedar Rapids Community School District as Confidential Secretary at the Education Service Center. Church was a very important part of her life. She was a member of First Congregational Church since 1946, participating in choir, Mayflower Circle, Women’s Fellowship and Sunshine Prayer Group.

She was a member of the Sweet Adelines Cedar Rhapsody Chapter for 55 years and performed with them at Carnegie Hall and at the International Competition in Royal Albert Hall, London. Kathryn was awarded lifetime membership in 2010. She would meet monthly with her group of friends named “The Characters”.

Kathryn enjoyed singing and was a member of the Golden Warblers, RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and St. Luke’s Auxiliary. She was a caring volunteer with over 4,000 hours at St. Luke’s and she also gave her time to Meth-Wick, Linn County Genealogical Society and the History Center.
