Obituary for Terry Ann Burns Terry Burns, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away April 21,2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the funeral home.

Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Terry was born December 5, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John Richard and Mary Faith (Evans) Woodward. She was a 1971 graduate of Jefferson High School.

On June 1, 1974, Terry married John “JB” Howard Burns at St. Patrick’s Church, Cedar Rapids. She worked as an optician most recently employed by Dr. Fitzgerald & Associates. Terry was the first born of nine children.

She started at a young age as a caretaker for everyone, known as the rock of her family. Terry cooked like it was an art, never needing to read a recipe. Terry loved gardening, reading books, shopping, visiting the beach and cats.

She especially enjoyed taking care of her boys and grandsons. Terry is survived by her sons, Derek Shaughn (Emily Weyls) Burns of Cedar Rapids and Devon Shayne Burns of Denver, Colorado; grandsons, Killian John Burns and Xander Shaughn Burns; mother, Mary Knapp; brothers, John (Barb) Woodward, Dan (Mary Jane) Woodward, Jeff Woodward, Matt Woodward, Mark Woodward, and Mike Woodward; sisters, Laura (Scott) Kruger and Kathy (John) Stratton; sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Bill) Brunscheen, Sharon (Ted) Knutson, Mary (Terry) Isaac and Sarah (Doug) Schoon; many nieces and nephews; cousins; and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John “JB” Burns in 2006; father, John Richard Woodward; in-laws, Howard and Ruby Burns; uncle, Robert Evans; nephew, Eric Bieber; and cousin, Janne Woodward.
