Obituary for Kaye VanFleet Kaye VanFleet, 71, of Chariton passed away October 17, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 2:30 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Kaye’s wishes were to be cremated and she will be buried at a later date at the Avon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lucas County Veterans Memorial Park. Kaye was born May 27, 1947 in Chariton, Iowa to Charles and Mildred (Reid) Graves. She grew up in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1965.
She was married to Gary James Overton and blessed with three children: Tawnya, Robert, and Malissa. She was later married to Albert VanFleet, this union was blessed with a daughter Tralisa. She had worked many different jobs, but really enjoyed working in broadcasting at the radio station.
She will be greatly remembered for her love of family, blood and extended. She thought every child and or human being needs a helping hand at times in their life. She was always happy to give that helping hand, and always thought of it as “paying it forward”.
Kaye enjoyed working on genealogy, Facebook, and visiting with family and friends. She loved being with family, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Kaye is survived by her children: Tawnya (Doug VerPloegh) Overton, Robert L. Overton II, Malissa (Patrick) Graham, and Tralisa VanFleet; 12 grandchildren: Miranda, Gary, Dillon, Teeanna, Houston, Haylee, Paige, Jayden, Peyton, Carter, Conner, and Layla; three great grandchildren; and siblings, Charles Graves II and Marcia Hoch; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and many extended family and grandchildren.
