Kayoko’s Obituary Kayoko Tamaki was born in Yokohama, Japan on 09/01/1919, the 4th of 6 children to Aeiko and Shizuma Kumai. She met her husband Seiichi Tamaki in Japan and migrated to the United States on 10/06/1953. She remained a permanent resident alien in Los Angeles, CA until her death on 01/03/2019.

Kayoko loved her companion collie Tammy. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her beloved husband Seiichi, who passed in 1988. She was previously active in the Japanese women group at St. Francis Xavier Chapel in East Los Angeles, and often helped on bake sales and craft activities.

She enjoyed listening to classical music as well as traveling to sacred places related to her faith such as Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France and to Rome and the Vatican for the Holy Year of 2000. She is survived by nephew Glenn Sugiyama of Northern California, and nieces Julia Chew, Rita Hanamoto. Also Survived by nieces Yoko Kodama and Kuniko Kumai, Grand-Nephew Yoshimasa Kodama, and Takamori Kumai, as well as sister-in-law Hiroko Kumai, all of whom reside in Yokohama, Japan.

Her viewing will be held at Holy Cross Mortuary on Friday 1/18 at 4pm until 8pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Chapel on Saturday, 1/19/2019 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her memory to St. Francis Xavier Chapel.
