Keith Charles Steward, age 76, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Vernalee Wofford Steward, departed this life Thursday, January 9, 2019 at his residence. A Funeral Service for Mr. Steward will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, Tennessee with Bro. David Parlow, pastor of the church, officiating.

A Private Interment will be in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. A visitation for Mr. Steward will be from 1 to 3 P.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the church. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.

Keith was born November 3, 1942 in Ainsworth, Nebraska, the son of the late Clarence Elsworth Steward and Velma Carrie Miller Steward. He was a graduate of Humansville High School in Missouri and served his country in the United States Army as a young person. He was a resident of Rockford, Illinois for 43 years and was employed with the Chrysler Corporation for 30 years before his retirement.

He was married December 23, 1969 to the former Gladys Vernalee Wofford and they have been residents of the Moscow, Tennessee area since 2011. He will be remembered for his work ethic and his willingness to help others. Mr. Steward is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vernalee Steward of Moscow, TN; two daughters, Summer Scheri (Jeff) of Moscow, TN, Mia Clay (Kory) of Moscow, TN; three brothers, Richard Steward (Sally) of Dunnegan, MO, Robert Steward (Lillian) of Halfway, MO, Willard Steward (Linda) of Stockton, MO; his brother-in-law, Billy Routh of Baldwin City, KS; and seven grandchildren, Kasen Clay, Madisen Clay, Madden Clay, Kyten Clay, Mayzen Clay, Raylee Scheri and Joseph Scheri.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mavis Routh and his grandson, Koen Clay. The family requests that memorials be directed to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 1980 Oak Grove Drive, Moscow, TN 38057 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
