Kenneth’s Obituary Kenneth Garland Howard, 83, of Kings Mountain, passed away on March 10, 2019 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born January 27, 1936, in Bryson City, NC, son of the late Oscar and Oma Howard. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred Bingham Howard.

Mr. Howard was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He was retired from Burlington Industries with over 30 years of service. He was proud to be a US Navy Veteran.

He enjoyed gospel music and sang with the former Gospel Light Trio from Greenville, SC. He also enjoyed playing guitar with his boys. He was a former member of Parkdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and song leader.

After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and traveling. He delighted in spending time with his family and he loved his Lord Jesus Christ. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 15, 2019, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 102 Canterbury Rd.

, Kings Mountain, officiated by Pastor Jim Ogle. The family will receive friends 7-9pm Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia.

Burial will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Gaston County Honor Guard. In addition to his wife; his is survived by sons, Ray Howard, Neil Howard, Tim Howard ( Lisa); special friend of the family, Norman Stevens; daughters, Nancy Barrett (Johnny), Robin Cauthen (Billy), Kandy Mann (Les); brother, Wayne Howard; sisters, Betty Jo Martin, Ruby Cox, Gail Spencer, Debbie Callahan; grandchildren, Christopher Cauthen (Renee), Stephen Howard, Amy Penninger (Wes), Kelly Dorothy (Johnny), Alicia McMahan (Josh), Seth Howard, Eric Howard; twelve great-grandchildren, Chase Brooks, Haylee, Wade, and Davis Cauthen, Sage and Marli Penninger, Miller, Gavin, Riley and Ty Dorothy, Anniston and Trenton McMahan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Maybelle Welch, Susie Norman, Lucille Lawson, Wanda Bolding, Ginger Welch, Sherry Haney, Linda Howard; daughter-in-law, Joyce Howard; grandson, Kenneth Richard Brooks.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
