Kenneth James Gardiner , June 28, 1954 — July 04, 2018

On July 4, 2018 our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Ken Gardiner of Parker, Colorado passed away after a hard fought battle with frontotemporal degeneration dementia. Ken was born on June 28th, 1954 in Birmingham, England. As a teen, he immigrated to the United States with his family where they lived in New York City until moving to Rockford, Illinois.

It was in Rockford that he met his wife and best friend, Deborah Lynn Hribal. Their love was made formal on August 23rd, 1975. Ken joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Texas where he and Debbie had two children, Audrey Anne (Goninan) and James Kenneth.

Soon after, Ken and his family were stationed in Bitburg, Germany. During this time, they had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe, experiencing many different cultures. They were also stationed in Minot, North Dakota and then Harrogate, England.

Ken’s career in the Air Force also sent him to Russia, Saudi Arabia, Africa and many other countries where he worked at US Embassies. After 26 years in the Air Force, Ken retired in Colorado. Ken was always an adventure seeker – sky diving, water skiing, snowboarding, camping and hiking.

He was mostly known as a motorcycle enthusiast, loving every aspect of the sport and owned quite a diverse collection of “bikes”. His love of motorcycles and world travels, were only eclipsed by his love of Scotland. Ken’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Their times spent with “Grandad” and “Near” were always very special and adventurous. Ken is survived by his wife, Deborah, his children Audrey Goninan (Rick), James Gardiner (Samantha) and his grandchildren Savannah and Ricky Goninan and Hollis and Brixton Gardiner, his sisters, Susan (Malcolm), Pam and his brother Graham (Wendy). He is also survived by his adopted father Gordon Taylor, his mother-in-law Jennie Johnson, his sisters-in-law Beth (Jeff) Benson and Cindy Rathke, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Until we meet again – we love you and miss you! A Graveside Service with full military honors will be h eld at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO, Staging Area “C”.
