Kenneth Mark Bellin March 07, 1925 – March 06, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Kenneth Mark Bellin 93 of Fergus Falls, MN formerly of Lidgerwood, ND passed away March 6, 2019 at Pioneer Cottages Nursing Home in Fergus Falls MN. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND with Rev. Harvey Henderson officiating.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers please give donation to LB Hospice of Fergus Falls, MN. Kenneth Mark Bellin was born March 7, 1925 in Hankinson, ND to Olga (Meyers) and Albert Bellin.
Ken grew up in Hankinson, ND. During WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Gunner’s Mate on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. After the war, he and Norma were married February 8, 1947, and moved to Myrtle Creek, OR.
He was a carpenter for Hank Wooster Construction. Marshall was born there in November 1947. In the spring of 1948, they moved back to Norma’s parent’s farm of rural Lidgerwood and began farming with his father-in-law, Herman Shustrom.
He and his uncles (Bob and Dick) built the present house there in 1949. Russell was born in May of 1951. Ken continued on the farm until he retired in the mid 1990’s.
He was very active in community affairs. He was a past officer of the Lidgerwood American Legion Post, RSR Board of Directors, Central Power Board of Directors, the Lions club, Bergan Church Board, and the Lidgerwood Community Development Board, Bank Board of Directors and numerous other community involvements. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.
After retiring, he spent winters in Arizona and summers in North Dakota. After Norma passed away, he married Esther and moved to Omaha where they resided. Ken spent his last years in Dakota Estates in Lidgerwood, St. Catherine’s in Breckenridge, and Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls.
He is survived by his two sons Marshall (Patricia) of Boca Raton, FL and Russell (Naomi) of Maine, MN; three Granddaughters – Renata Anderson (John) Onalaska, WI, Amy Haycock (David) Boca Raton, FL, and LaRessa Mattson (Brad) West Fargo, ND and 5 great-grandchildren: Elle, Emerson and Dru Mattson, and Quinn and Keagan Anderson, a sister: Mae Hinrichs of Lidgerwood, ND, and 22 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Norma (Shustrom) 1996; wife: Esther (VanOrney) 2016; brothers: Alfred, Harold and Donald; sisters: Edith Pankow, Dorothy Fisher, Esther Worner, and Irene Peterson, granddaughter Breanna Bellin, and 6 nieces and nephews.
