LITTLE SUAMICO, WI – Kim Marie Jochem, age 52, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018 at their home in DeForest, WI, surrounded by family. She was born, Kim Ok Soon, on March 4, 1966 in Seoul, Korea. As a baby, Kim was left at the door steps of a Korean orphanage with half of one finger missing and injuries to her back.
At age five she was adopted by Phyllis and James Price, of Poynette, WI, surrounded with love and enjoying family life with four other sisters. On April 27, 1985, she married Robert W. Lyon. They were blessed with one child, Carmen-Lyon-Keating, who she adored with all her heart and was the love of her life.
Kim was well known for her exceptional organizational skills, mentoring, and personal skills. Serving twenty-seven years (Chief/E-9) in the Air Force. Her last military assignment was in Washington D.C., serving as Chief of Recruiting, then as Chief of Retention, and lastly as Chief of Human Res.
Retiring in 2011, she was awarded numerous military service awards for outstanding leadership and commitment to our nation. Understanding the importance of education as a naturalized citizen, she achieved both baccalaureate and master degrees in business. Her generosity, kindness and human concern for others were always notable by others and highlighted by her volunteer work at the elderly food program; church activities at St. Paul Ev.
Lutheran Church, Oconto Falls, WI; heading up “Coats for Afghan” program, shipping over seven hundred coats to Afghanistan’s needy children; working with a church member tirelessly to help her obtain the dream of getting her driver’s license, achieving this lifelong goal with Kim’s dedicated efforts. These were just a small sample of the wonders of this super woman. Kim is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jerome “Jerry”; child, Carmen (Jeremy) Keating; step children, Adam (Amy) Jochem, Amy (Chris) Gauchier, and Katie (Troy) Hokinson; her mother, Phyllis Price; her father, James “Jim” Price; sisters Pam (Chris) Williams, Roxanne (Kim) Price, Brenda (Don) Franklin; nieces and nephew; grandchildren, Aiden, Jaxon, Canaan, Finn, and Arthur.
Her grandchildren were the delight of her life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Price. A funeral service honoring the life of Kim will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday December 28, 2018 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, W6906 County Road K, Arlington.
A visitation will take place from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. Burial with full military honors will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a luncheon in the Zion Church basement after services.
