Obituary for L. LaVonne Peterson L. LaVonne Peterson, 86, died Saturday morning, September 29, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at the Carroll City Cemetery at a later date. LaVonne, daughter of Jim and Neva (Mull) Matticks, was born on May 7, 1932, in Greene County, Missouri.

She was the oldest of eight children and grew up in Farnhamville, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. She and her husband, Earl Peterson, moved to Carroll in 1962 where they raised their six children. LaVonne enjoyed decorating, especially for the holidays, sitting on her front porch when she lived on Northwest Street and visits from her grandchildren.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. LaVonne spent the majority of her adult career as a nurse’s aide at St. Anthony Nursing Home, retiring in 1992, and continued on as a volunteer there for many years afterwards. She is survived by her six children: Doug (Char) Peterson of Palmyra, Virginia; Pam (Lynn) Dunn of Lake View, Iowa; Mike (Doug Pogemiller) Peterson of Dallas, Texas; Cindy Northcutt of Des Moines, Iowa; Bill (Christine) Peterson of West Des Moines, Iowa; and Lori (Tim) Wieland of Des Moines, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and six sisters.

Besides her husband, LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Rick Northcutt, a brother and two grandchildren. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of L. LaVonne Peterson please visit our Sympathy Store.
