Lahoma Grayston Cook, 88, of W. Pierce Street, Carlsbad, NM passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating.

Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lahoma Grayston Cook was born October 11, 1929 in Hitchita, Oklahoma to James Albert and Hailey Catherine (Gabbards) Scott and attended school in Oklahoma.

She moved to Carlsbad in 1946 where she was a homemaker, raising her daughter, Carolyn. Lahoma loved to garden and enjoyed cooking and embroidery. She married Willard Cook August 30,1968 here in Carlsbad.

Lahoma later worked at Dimple’s as a cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, LeeRoy Grayston; husband, Willard Cook; sisters: Dovie Brown, Helen Sychr, Wilma Shipp and Mary Bell Cooper; brothers: Dale Scott and Grady Scott. Survivors are her daughter, Carolyn Wheat and husband, Dennis of Carlsbad, NM and two nieces.
