Obituary Service Details Lambert (Bubble) Peterson Jr-Funeral services will be held at the Greater Apostolic Faith Church, at 3571 Tod Ave. , in Warren, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 12 noon, for Mr. Lambert (Bubble) Peterson Jr., 78, of Vienna,Ohio who went home to be with Lord surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Lambert was born in Luverne, Alabama on March 13, 1938 to the union of the late Lambert and Zonie Mae Peterson Sr
He attended the Crenshaw County Training School in Luverne. He was united in marriage on August 31, 1963 to the former Mae Etta Rodgers and celebrated 50 Years of marriage 3 years ago by renewing their vows. A dedicated hard worker and strong provider for his family, he was employed by AP O’horo Construction for almost 40 years as a foreman.
Not content with retirement, he worked for an additional 12 years at NEOCAP as a driver and was promoted to a resident supervisor where he was respectfully known as “Mr. P.” Eventually retiring from there he decided to work and play at 2 local golf courses, Old Dutch Mill and Avalon South and also was employed by Sibley-Murray funeral home. Lambert was a proud 50-year gold card member of the International HOD local 925 Laborers Union. Lambert excepted Christ at an early age in Alabama at Little Branch Baptist Church.
He later moved to Warren Ohio and became a faithful and committed member of Triedstone Baptist Church for over 45 years, where he served in several ministries to include as an usher, nurse, and the choir where he could be heard singing his favorite songs, Learning to Lean and The Old Ship of Zion. He was also on the deacon board for 40 years where he served as the Chairman. He was also a gifted Sunday School teacher and loved teaching the work of God.
Lambert believed that having an intimate relationship with God required, reading, studying, and listnening to the word of God. Lambert believed in “Each one reaches one”, and believed in witnessing to folks no matter where he was and who it was to. He could be found on many occasions along with the late Deacon Roosevelt White, sharing God’s word.
Committed to his community, he was a driver for Meals on Wheels. He was also was active with the youth in the community having served as the first black little league baseball coach in Leavittsburg, Ohio. His motivational coaching style led to parents and children wanting to play for his teams.
During this time of coaching he was responsible for leading his team to several championships. Over the past 45 years players have sought Lambert out to say thank you for teaching them the game of both baseball and life. All 4 of his boys have folowed in his footsteps of both coaching and coaching style.
Bubble enjoyed fishing, golfing, and was an avid gardener. He was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan and made sure to let everyone know it. He loved golf and became one of an elite group of golfers when he celebrated “a hole in one” at Tamer Wynn.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years Mae Etta; 3 sons from this union, Pastor Vincent (Evelyn) Peterson I, Michael (Julie) Peterson; Minister Ronald Andre (Wanda) Peterson, I and an “adopted” son he helped to rear African (Stacey) Grant. 2 chidren from a prior relationship, Betty Anne Thorton, and Dwayne Davis. His sisters; Minnie Parks and Lennie Richardson, an uncle, John (Sonny Boy) Peterson, a special brother-in-law, Leonard Rodgers, 12 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters Stella Mae Williams, Bonnie Mae Peterson, Fannie Richardson, and Odessa Peterson, and a favorite brother-in-law and work partner, and a grandson; Isaiah Richardson. Friends may call from 10 am to 12 noon, with the services immediately following. Interment will be at Pineview Memorial on Youngstown Road in Warren.
Guests will be received at 210 Southwind Drive in Howland.
