Obituary for Landon Burge Landon H. Burge, 91, of Frankfort, passed away from this life early, Wednesday morning, November 14, 2018, following a long battle with cancer. Mr. Burge was the son of the late Len Burge and Bertha Tracy Burge of Beechridge. He was a native of Shelby County and grew up in Frankfort.
Mr. Burge served in the United States Army during World War II and retired after thirty- eight years with the National Distillery. After retirement, Mr. Burge lived his winter months in Okeechobee, Florida where he loved to fish. Landon is survived by his children, Rodney Burge, Linda Mueller (Bob), Patti Arthur (John), and Larry Burge.
He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Eric, Ashley, Chad, Troy, Jake, Brandon, Tracy, and Brandon; fifteen great-grandchildren, Chase, Weston, Madison, Landen, Makenlee, Mayson, Dylan, Tanner, Blake, Kaitlyn, Trinity, Braylin, Easton, Destiny, and Dalton; and two great-great grandchildren, Cynthia and Trenton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Nancy Douthitt Burge, along with three brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Mr. Burge will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bagdad Cemetery.
Bro. Chuck Umholtz and Bro. Everett Hawkins will officiate.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Burge, Troy Manley, Jake Manley, Brandon Manley, Chad Mueller, and Gerald Manley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Burge-Sparks, Tracy Manley, Brandon Jones, Blake Manley, Dylan Manley, and Tanner Manley.
